KL Rahul continues to disappoint in important matches. He failed to perform at his own home ground in the opening Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He amassed  0 and 12 across both innings. In the second innings, he came out to bat in their 85th over when  Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for 150 runs. The score was 408/4, and Rahul was expected to play an impactful knock.

Pant was bowled on a score of 99 runs by William O’Rourke. Rahul followed him to the dressing room after perishing for 12 runs. Fans have turned against the senior batter and want the team management to drop him from the Playing XI.

Rahul hasn’t been able to perform consistently for the national team. He was recalled to the Test side for the Bangladesh series after seven months.

He scored 16 and 22 not out in the Chennai Test. KL scored a fifty in the second innings of the Kanpur Test against the Tigers. However, his approach in the red-ball format has been questioned despite the backing of the team management.
