Rishabh Pant scored 99 runs in the second innings of the opening Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. The southpaw, who returned to the most extended format in the series against Bangladesh, scored a hundred in the first Test with the Tigers in Chennai.

Rishabh scored 20 in the first innings of the series opener against the Kiwis but came back to form in the second.

He broke MS Dhoni’s record in the Test format. He is the fastest Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score 2500 runs in Tests. The record was with MS Dhoni.

While Dhoni took 69 innings to reach the record, Pant surpassed the veteran in 62.

Rishabh has slammed tons in England, Australia, and South Africa and accumulated 6 centuries in red-ball cricket.

Sarfaraz also showed his class with the bat after he failed in the first innings. The right-handed batter scored 150 runs and helped the team in reaching 462 runs. The visiting team needs 107 runs to win the game. Earlier, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 46 runs in the first innings. The Kiwis posted 402 in reply and took a lead of 356 runs.
