There is a dispute between the two countries regarding the participation of Team India in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan next year. In fact, a Pakistani news channel has claimed that Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has discussed cricket diplomacy with the Pakistani Foreign Minister. These days Jaishankar is on Pakistan tour for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference.

Discussion on cricket will start soon

Journalist Faizan Lakhani of Pakistani news channel Geo News made a post on the social media platform 'X', in which it was claimed that the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed cricket diplomacy. It has also been claimed that formal discussions regarding cricket can start between the two countries soon. However, there has been no official confirmation on this matter from either India or Pakistan.

Team India has not gone to Pakistan for 16 years

There has been no bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan since 2012-13. The last time the Pakistani team came to tour India and then Test and T20 series were played. Since then, both the teams are participating only in ICC or ACC tournaments. For this, Pakistani team has also come to India in 2016 and 2023 but Team India has not toured Pakistan since 2008. Last time Team India went to Pakistan to play Asia Cup.
