England's batsmen Joe Root and Harry Brook seem to be dominating the Test rankings released recently by the International Cricket Council (ICC). After his brilliant batting in the first Test against Pakistan in Multan, Joe Root is at the first position in the ICC Test rankings. But remains strong while his compatriot Harry Brook has jumped 11 places to take second place.
Joe Root achieved a career-best rating of 932 in the ICC Test men's rankings updated on Wednesday, while his teammate Harry Brook jumped 11 places to joint second place. Root made his highest Test score of 262 in the first Test against Pakistan and continued breaking records in Test cricket.
At the same time, Brook also scored a memorable triple century in the first Test and with 829 points came second in the ICC men's Test rankings along with Kiwi star Kane Williamson. After his brilliant batting in Multan, Brook also achieved the best rating and ranking of his career in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Pakistan cricketers saw a further decline in their Test batting rankings after the embarrassing defeat.
Mohammad Rizwan slipped from 12th to 19th in the updated ICC Test batting rankings, leaving no Pakistani cricketer in the top ten. Babar Azam, who was dropped from the team before the second Test, has slipped three places to 15th position. Babar is not a part of the last two Tests against England but Rizwan may slip further due to poor form. At the same time, there are three Indian players in the top 10 batsmen.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is at fourth position with 792 rating points, Virat Kohli is at seventh position with 724 rating points and Rishabh Pant is at 9th position with 718 rating points.
