Liverpool have already won their first trophy of the season by beating Chelsea 1-0 in the League Cup final on Sunday, February 25.

Jurgen Klopp's side are down to bare bones due to a massive injury crisis but the German showed why he is one of the best managers in the world by fielding a host of academy players and still securing the victory against Chelsea.

The Reds will now turn their attention to another cup as they are set to take on Championship side Southampton at Anfield in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday, February 28. Klopp has turned to his young players in recent games with his options stretched by injuries. It was exceptionally brave decision from him to field so many youngsters in a cup final against a big club like Chelsea. It is quite evident that he believes in the young players he has at his disposal and they are returning the favor to the manager. Before the Chelsea game, Liverpool had 10 players out with injuries and two more have joined the list in the form of Ryan Gravenberch and Waturu Endo. With almost half his squad injured and a title race to focus in, Klopp will most likely play a very young side against Southampton. Here, we will take a look at how they could line up against the Saints. Goalkeeper- Caoimhin Kelleher Kelleher has deputized really well in the absence of Alisson Becker of late and he is the Reds' cup keeper anyway which means he will start as one of the senior players against Southampton. Defence- Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas Klopp is likely to rest Andrew Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate against Southampton. With Trent Alexander Arnold also injured, the back four could consist youngsters Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansal alongside Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas. Midfield- James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Trey Nyoni Midfield is the area which looks the lightest for Liverpool at the moment with only Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott fit. Klopp is likely to rest the two and could field a young trio of Bobby Clark, James McConnell and Trey Nyoni. Attack- Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz are the only two senior attackers fit right now and they could both be rested. Klopp could field a very young front three in the form of Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns.
