Under the leadership of Indian women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India's performance in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 was quite average. Due to which Team India was out of the tournament with the end of the group.

Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India's performance in all the ICC events held in the last 4 years has been very poor. Due to which the reports are that now BCCI can snatch the captaincy from Harmanpreet Kaur and give it to some other player.

Smriti Mandhana can become the new captain of Team India

If the BCCI decides to remove Harmanpreet Kaur, the current captain of the Indian women's team, from the captaincy post, then the selection committee can give the responsibility of captaining Team India to Smriti Mandhana in her place. Reports are that instead of Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana will be seen captaining the Women's World Cup to be held in the year 2025.
