Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the home test series A big step has been taken a few days ago. BCB has suspended Chandika Hathurusinghe for 48 hours on disciplinary grounds and she will be dismissed immediately after 48 hours. According to media reports, a former Sri Lankan cricketer had allegedly slapped a Bangladesh cricketer during the 2023 World Cup in India.
BCB investigated the allegations to Bangladesh's World Cup campaign in 2023 and only after that this decision has been taken.
During the World Cup 2023, a Bangladeshi player had alleged that Hathurusinghe had slapped him. Phil Simmons will replace Hathurusinghe as head coach in an interim capacity until the 2025 Champions Trophy.Hathurusinghe returned for his second stint as Bangladesh coach in February last year.
This drew mixed reactions among former captains, especially from current BCB president Farooq Ahmed, who at the time questioned the BCB's decision to bring him back. Under Hathurusinghe's leadership, Bangladesh performed disappointingly during last year's ODI World Cup and this year's T20 World Cup campaign.His best achievement during this tenure was Bangladesh's 2–0 Test series win against Pakistan this year. This was their first win in Pakistan and first overseas Test series win in 15 years. However, in the subsequent tour of India, they lost 2–0 in the Test and 3–0 in the T20I, including a record defeat in the third match.
