The race for the semifinal of the Women's T20 World Cup is getting intensified as Group B will have a crunch battle on hands with England taking on the West Indies on Tuesday (Oct 15).
The contest set to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium will carry a lot of impetus with three sides including South Africa still in contention for two places in the semis. With the semis starting on Thursday, here are all the scenarios explaining who can qualify for the semis of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. West Indies semifinal qualification scenario A win for the West Indies will see the Caribbean in the last four at the expense of either England or South Africa. The margin of West Indies' will determine who will make it to the last four along with them as all three sides have positive Net Run Rate (NRR). Batting first if England score 200 or above and West Indies chase the total on the final ball of the innings, both teams will qualify for the semis, however, in any other scenario, it will be the winner of the head-to-head contest and South Africa who will book their place in the semis. England semifinal qualification scenario A win for England against the West Indies will see them through to the semis of the Women's T20 World Cup. However, a defeat will see them miss out altogether as South Africa and the West Indies will have better NRR. In case England score above 200 and lose on the final ball of the innings, they will qualify for the semis along with the West Indies.  South Africa semifinal qualification scenario South Africa are all but through to the semis of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 provided there is a winner in the head-to-head contest. However, there is a catch, in case both West Indies and England score above 200 and the latter wins on the final ball of the innings both teams will qualify for the semis at the expense of South Africa on NRR. What happens in case rain plays spoilsport? In case rain plays spoilsport, both teams will share points and therefore England (7 points) and South Africa (6 points) will reach the semis. West Indies (5 points) will miss out on a berth in the semis.
