Pakistan have a habit of misfielding and dropping catches in international cricket. This weakness is not limited to one format and both the men and women teams have been found guilty of sloppy fielding on numerous occasions.

In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 match between Pakistan and New Zealand, the Women in Green dropped eight catches, allowing the Kiwis to score 110/6 in 20 overs.

A better and more composed effort in the field would have helped Pakistan to restrict New Zealand on a below-par score.

Almost all the players were found wanting during New Zealand’s innings and the Kiwis managed to put a fighting total on the board.a

Suzie Bates (28), Brooke Halliday (22), Sophie Devine (19) and Georgia Plimmer (17) showed some promise with the bat.

For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu took three wickets. Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail dismissed one batter each, respectively.

If New Zealand win the contest, they will join Australia in the semifinals. However, if Pakistan are able to outclassed the rivals, India will make it to the knockout stage.
