Heather Graham has been named as a replacement for fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck, who has been ruled out of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Graham joins the squad before Australia's last and final group match against Harmanpreet Kaur's India on Sunday, October 13 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Vlaeminck sustained an injury during Australia's previous match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. But after coming in as a replacement for Grace Harris, the speedster had to go off the park without bowling a single delivery. Although she saved two runs, her knee got stuck on the ground after which she landed awkwardly. She was seen clutching her right shoulder, after which she was carried off the park. In the same match, skipper Alyssa Healy also developed a foot injury while trying to push for a second run. Australia coach Shelly Nitschke said Australia would wait to share an update on both players. While Vlaeminck would not take further part in the tournament, it remains to be seen if Healy gets fit. Heather Graham's career for Australia The 28-year-old Graham has played five Women's T20I thus far, in which she has picked up eight wickets at an economy rate of 8.07. She got her best figures of 2-0-8-4 against India back in December 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. of the series as Australia beat India by 54 runs.
