Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal harshly criticised Pakistan's Test team following their humiliating defeat to England in the first Test in Multan on October 12. Akmal, visibly frustrated, compared Pakistan's performance to that of a 'locality team,' lamenting that it was deeply disappointing for the nation.
In his recent YouTube video, Akmal expressed his concern that players seemed more focused on personal milestones than the success of the team. He emphasised that this selfish approach was seriously diminishing the team's overall standard, and he remarked that Pakistan seems to only perform well against smaller teams, which is a significant cause for concern. PAK vs ENG 1st Test, Day 5: Highlights | Scorecard "The world must be amazed by the way Pakistan lost. Nobody will believe this. The Pakistan side has become a locality team. Even the club team doesn't perform like this. This is the current standard of our team. We win against small teams but can't even get close to big teams. The whole world is laughing at the Pakistan team," Kamran said. "Pakistan team have a selfish approach. In our country, players play for their personal milestones and then think about the team," Kamran added. Pakistan had a promising start in the first innings, amassing 556 runs with centuries from Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, and Agha Salman. However, their inability to capitalise on that lead proved costly. England, led by Harry Brook's stunning triple century and Joe Root's monumental 262, responded with a mammoth 823 before declaring. "The captain should be asked who is the player involved in this. Inquire about this and remove the responsible person. You are favouring them without performance. The whole world is playing against Pakistan to make records. Shameful performance," Kamran added. Facing an uphill battle , managing just 220 for 9, with Abrar Ahmed unable to bat due to injury. This defeat added to Pakistan's home woes, where they have now lost seven of their last eleven Test matches, further deepening their struggles.
