New Delhi: England skipper Ben Stokes is fit-again and will make a return to the team for the second Test match against Pakistan. England thrashed Pakistan on Friday in the first match of the series and Stokes missed the remarkable victory as he could be fit in time after failing to recover from a torn hamstring sustained in August.
While speaking with British broadcaster Sky Sports, Ollie Pope, who stood in again as captain for Stokes, discussed which players would be in contention for the second match starting on Tuesday. The second Test match will also played in Multan from October 15 while the third and final match of the series will take place on October 24 in Rawalpindi. Stokes is looking to comeback: Pope Meanwhile stand-in skipper for Pakistan Pope said that Stokes is looking to come back. When asked specifically if Stokes will play in the second test, Pope smiled and said sheepishly: "I'm actually not 100%. He's been training really well this week. He's as keen as ever to get playing again, so fingers crossed he's all good." Stokes played in all three tests in the series against the West Indies that was won 3-0 by England in July, but missed the entire series when England beat Sri Lanka 2-1 over August and September. Meanwhile, batting first in the Multan Test, Pakistan put up a good score of 556 runs on board in the first innings but England proved to be better as they declared their first innings at 823/7, with Harry Brook and Joe Root scoring a triple and double ton respectively. On the final day of the match, England bowled out Pakistan for just 220 runs, winning the encounter by an innings and 47 runs.
