Ind vs Aus Border Gavaskar Test Series: The Indian cricket team will tour Australia next month, where the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played between the two teams. This prestigious test series of five matches will start from November 22. This Test series is very important for both India and Australia in terms of the World Test Championship, but even before this series, the Indian team has suffered a big setback.
If reports are to be believed, Indian captain Rohit Sharma may stay out of the initial match of this Test series due to some personal reasons. In such a situation, the question has become that who will be included in Team India as the replacement of Rohit Sharma?

Abhimanyu Easwaran may get a chance in place of Rohit Sharma

According to media reports, Rohit Sharma may be out of the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has already informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If this happens, then Team India will definitely miss him as a captain, but will also miss him as a batsman. In such a situation, the Indian team needs an additional opener for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In place of Rohit, young opener Abhimanyu Ishwar can be seen opening for Team India. Abhimanyu Easwaran has scored three consecutive centuries in this domestic season and has emerged as a strong contender for this role.

After scoring centuries in the second and third matches of the 2024 Duleep Trophy, Abhimanyu Easwaran also scored a century in 117 balls against Mumbai in the Irani Cup 2024 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. He not only scored two centuries in the Duleep Trophy, but before this he had also scored a double century in the last match of Ranji Trophy in February 2024. He proved his ability again with his strong batting. Although, he has been a part of Team India many times as a backup opener, but has not got a chance to debut yet. Considering his three consecutive centuries and strong first class record, Easwaran can be included in the team in place of Rohit.

Talking about Easwaran's statistics in first-class cricket, so far he has scored 7315 runs in 166 innings of 97 matches at an average of 48.44, which includes 25 centuries and 29 half-centuries. His highest score is 233 runs.
