Pakistan's batting completely collapsed in the second innings and their team could score only 220 runs, due to which they had to face defeat by innings. On the last day, Pakistan started playing ahead of 152 runs, but the remaining 4 wickets in their hands fell in one session and England won the match.

Joe Root and Harry Brook batted brilliantly in this match and defeated the Pakistani bowlers. A historic partnership was seen between the two batsmen, where Joe Root scored 262 runs in the first innings. At the same time, Harry Brook scored a triple century and played a brilliant inning of 317 runs. With this innings, he became the fastest batsman to score a triple century for England. Both the players together made a partnership of 454 runs, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in Test cricket for England so far.
