Mayank Yadav debuted for India in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. After impressing with his speed and line in the Indian Premier League, the selectors and the team management decided to fast-track him. He clocked 156.7 kmph for Lucknow Super Giants in one of the matches of the 17th season of the cash-rich league.

Mayank bowled a maiden over in the first contest and also dismissed Mahmudullah. He touched the speed of 146.7 kmph in Gwalior while he clocked 145.7 kmph in Delhi. He is yet to breach the 150 kmph mark in international cricket.

Tamim Iqbal, who has played a lot of cricket for Bangladesh, made a mocking comment on the India speedster.

“Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 kmph in this series,” he said during the match. Murali Kartik gave him a befitting reply. “Neither has Bangladesh.”

Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in the opening game, while they managed 135/9 in the second contest. Mayank picked up a wicket in Delhi, getting rid of  Jaker Ali for 1.

Several fans want Mayank to play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. However, RP Singh said that it is too early for Mayank to play the longest format.

“I think Akash Deep deserves a chance in Australia. His bowling will suit the Aussie conditions,” he said.

He mentioned that Mayank need to develop more skills. “He needs to develop more skills and variations, and he is still in the development phase,” he added.
