The new domestic season of cricket is about to start in India. The play of the first round of Ranji Trophy will start from Friday 11th October. On the first day, 19 matches will be played on different grounds, in which 38 teams will participate. A day before the start of these matches, BCCI has made changes in some rules of domestic cricket including Ranji Trophy. One day before the start of the season, i.e. on the evening of Thursday 10 October, all the teams were informed about these changes. This includes rules ranging from batting and bowling to point distribution. Let us know what major changes the board has made.

Batting tricks won't work

This time the biggest change has been made by BCCI regarding the rules of batting. From now on, the cunningness of the batsmen will not work in domestic cricket. Earlier, even if there was no injury, many batsmen used to leave their innings mid-way to rest and go out of the field to rest and freshen up and come back to bat again. But now this work may prove costly for them. If he does this in the new season, he will be considered out with immediate effect.

Batsmen who retire and leave the field will not be able to bat again. Even if the captain of the opposing team has no objection to this, the batsman will be considered out. These rules will be applicable not only in Ranji Trophy but in all multi-day and limited over domestic matches. The most interesting thing is that BCCI has said that from now on Super Over can also be implemented in domestic matches.

This rule changed in bowling

BCCI has also made some changes in the bowling rules and has taken strict action regarding saliva. The board has said that if any team uses saliva on the ball, it will be changed immediately. Apart from this, penalty will also be imposed on that team with immediate effect.

BCCI has also made changes in the rules of stopping runs. According to the new rule, if the batsman stops after running one run and after the overthrow, a boundary is reached before crossing each other again, then only the boundary i.e. 4 runs will be added to the score. The board says that this rule has been changed under the agreement reached during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Let us tell you that earlier both the runs made by the batsmen and the runs thrown by them were added to the score.

What changed in point distribution?

The Indian Cricket Board has made some changes regarding the CK Nayudu competition and point distribution. For this, the board has explained the rules of point distribution by keeping two circumstances in front. In the first situation, suppose Team 'A' batting first gets all out for 398 runs in 98 overs in the first innings, then it will get 4 batting points. Whereas, if he gets 5 penalty runs while fielding, then his score will now become 403 in 98 overs and he will get 5 batting points.

The second situation is that if Team 'A', batting first, gets all out for 398 runs in 100.1 overs in the first innings, then it will be given 4 batting points. Whereas while fielding, if he gets 5 penalty runs, his score will be 403 runs in 100.1 overs but he will not get that 5th batting point.
