The upcoming Ranji Trophy season, set to begin on October 10, marks the 90th edition of India's premier first-class cricket tournament.
The 2024-25 season will introduce a restructured format designed to enhance competition and provide greater opportunities for teams to move between divisions. Notably, promotion and relegation will play a pivotal role in shaping the season's dynamics. Thirty-two Elite category teams are split into eight groups. Two teams with the highest points from each group will progress into the quarter-finals. Madhya Pradesh has been clubbed into Group C of the Elite category along with Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh squad will be captained by Shubham Sharma. Harpreet Singh, Rajat Patidar and Subhranshu Senapati are the options in the MP batting line-up. Avesh Khan will lead the pace attack along with Kulwant Khejroliya. The left-arm orthodox spinner Kumar Kartikeya is also selected in the squad. The team was led by Rajat Patidar and skipper Shubham Sharma, with Harpreet Singh also playing a key role. Additionally, Venkatesh Iyer, who had an impressive IPL season with KKR, will be part of the Madhya Pradesh squad. In the top order, Patidar will be accompanied by Subhranshu Senapati, while the middle order will be bolstered by the presence of Harpreet Singh, Shubham Sharma, and Venkatesh Iyer. Avesh Khan will lead the pace department along with Kulwant Khejroliya, while the spin department will rely on Kumar Kartikeya and Saransh Jain.
