Kashmir hosts International cricket match, filled with star players, after four decades

It is after four decades that Kashmir Valley witnessed an International Cricket Match in Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium. Indian and International cricketing stars played cricket in the Valley after almost half a century during the final leg of the Legends League Cricket.
Toyam Hyderabad registered yet another thrilling win in Legends League Cricket 2024. Srinagar is hosting over a 100 International Cricketing stars for the Legends League Cricket. Cricketers like Mohammad Kaif, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Ross Taylor and lan Bell have arrived to be live in action in Kashmir for the first time ever. Seven matches including the finals will be played between the 9th of October 2024 till the 16th of October 2024 at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. On the very first day of the match in Srinagar, Toyam Hyderabad registered a thrilling win. An all round performance with the bat and the ball helped Toyam Hyderabad defeat Southern Superstars by 5 wickets. After winning the toss, and electing to bat first, Hamilton Masakadza and Martin Guptill opened the innings for Southern Superstars. While Masakadza made 16 from 15 balls, Guptill scored 23 from 20. The excitement of watching the match was evident among the local Kashmiri youth. The galleries were full and buzzing with noise.   ''I am 35 years old and I am seeing this experience for the first time. I have only seen cricket on TV and never on live. I am feeling so lucky to be here and watch this match. It's a great experience for the youth of the valley. The whole stadium is booked and we are very happy, '' said Shahid, a local youngster. It was the first opportunity for the youngsters of the valley to come to the stadium and watch live cricket for the first time in 40 years. Hosting International cricket matches in Srinagar will also provide a unique opportunity for the cricketers to experience Kashmir Valley. This will not only give a boost to the cricket enthusiasts of the valley but also create a platform for the youngsters to get inspired to take cricket as their career. ''I am very happy that Srinagar is hosting an international match. We are very thankful to the government for organising this. This will promote tourism as well, And in the future it will really help. The youngest will get inspired a lot. I am very excited by these events. Our youngsters watching International level players here will inspire a lot, '' said Waseem Ahmad, a local.
