After a crushing defeat against New Zealand and a hard-fought win against Pakistan, Team India finally emerged victorious in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. In its third match of the group stage against Asian champion Sri Lanka, the Indian team won by a huge margin of 82 runs. After excellent half-centuries from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, Team India registered its second win in the tournament due to the lethal performance of bowlers including Arundhati Reddy and Renuka Singh. With this, the Indian team has strengthened its hopes of reaching the semi-finals by registering its second win. In its last group match, Team India will now face defending champion Australia, who is currently at first place in the points table.

In this Group A match played on Wednesday 9 October in Dubai, Team India proved to be the best on every front, the most important of which was fielding. In the last 2 matches, India had to face disappointment in fielding and some very easy catches were missed but this time the Indian fielders were catching the ball with a changed attitude. The result was excellent catches by Radha Yadav, Renuka Singh and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. Team India did not waste any of the catching chances it got in this match. On the basis of this, Team India also took revenge of the defeat suffered by Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup just a few months ago.
