Champions Trophy 2025: Will Champions Trophy go out of Pakistan? ICC is considering the name of this country

The next few weeks are going to prove very important for Pakistan cricket. On one hand, the Pakistani team is currently hosting England and the Test series between the two has started. Everyone is keeping an eye on the performance of the Pakistani team in this Test series, which has not been able to win any Test at home for two and a half years. But the real tension for Pakistan is not this but the organization of Champions Trophy. Pakistan has the right to host the Champions Trophy to be held in February-March 2025, but the situation regarding its organization is still not clear and now there is a possibility that the entire tournament will be organized in some other country instead of Pakistan. Can go, out of which South Africa has also emerged as an option, which the ICC is considering.

Questions on the event due to Team India

ICC had given hosting of Champions Trophy to Pakistan just a few years ago, which is going to be the first ICC event in Pakistan after the 1996 World Cup. However, since the beginning, one question has been most important regarding this tournament – will Team India go to Pakistan for this tournament? This question remains the biggest obstacle in the way of this tournament being held in Pakistan. While the Pakistan Cricket Board is refurbishing its 2-3 stadiums to organize the tournament and is claiming that Team India will also come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, the BCCI has not made any changes in its response. The Indian Board clearly says that only the Government of India can take the decision of Team India going to Pakistan.

3 options in front of ICC, name of this country came out

In a report by Sports Tak, it has been said that ICC is considering three options for organizing the Champions Trophy. The report claims that apart from hosting the event in Pakistan itself or a hybrid event, the ICC is also considering shifting the tournament completely to some other venue. For this, options of 3 countries are in front of ICC, in which the names of UAE and Sri Lanka have been floating since the beginning but now South Africa has also been entered. No senior men's ICC tournament has been organized in South Africa since the 2007 T20 World Cup. However, in the last few years, apart from the Women's and Men's Under-19 World Cup, the Women's T20 World Cup was also organized in the country last year.

When will the decision be taken?

Now everyone's eyes are on which option the ICC will choose. It has been told in the report that ICC is preparing the budget for the tournament keeping these three options in mind. Now the decision on which option will be finalized is expected to be taken by November. This means that for the next few weeks, the executives of Pakistani boards will be holding their breath. A major reason for this is the appointment of Jay Shah as the new chairman of ICC, who will take charge from December 1. However, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is continuously claiming that the tournament will be held entirely in Pakistan. Also, work is going on in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi stadiums.
