Australia cricketer Marnus Labuschagne has started preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 with red-ball matches for Queensland. He is the captain of his domestic side team in the Sheffield Shield 2024-25, which started on October 8.

Playing against Western Australia in Perth in their first clash of the season, Queensland elected to field first. Despite losing Cameron Bancroft’s wicket early in the innings, the host team posted 319 on Day 1.

Labuschagne bowled the 64th over to break the partnership between Sam Whiteman and Josh Inglis. During his spell, he asked one of his teammates to field next to him. The fielder was placed behind the umpire before Marnus pulled him to his left, before bowling a bouncer to Inglis.

Labuschagne is renowned for his different tricks on the field. He recently argued with the on-field umpire after a dismissal when against him.

Labuschagne bowled three overs and conceded just 2 runs at the end of opening day.

He concentrated on seam bowling instead of trying his leg spin. The two overs were maiden, with Marnus relying on bouncers.

Labuschagne is often used as a part-time bowler by Aussie captains and franchises. In the ODI series against England, he rolled his arm over. He took a five-wicket haul for Glamorgan the during the T20 Blast 2024.

Meanwhile, his pace bowling was ineffective.
