Middle distance runner Betts was one of Kenya's rising runners. But in August 2018, he was found positive for taking performance enhancing drug 'Erythropoietin' (EPO). After this, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) banned him for 4 years. Let us tell you that in the last 3 years, about 80 athletes from East Africa have been banned. (Photo: Getty Images)
Due to the 4-year ban on Kipyegon betting, he missed out on participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 World Championships. This had a deep impact on him and he went into depression. (Photo: Getty Images)
Bett's family revealed that this ban had a very bad effect on them. He went to drip therapy and started drinking alcohol. He became so addicted to drinking that he even forgot his career. After the suspension ended in August 2022, his family tried hard to encourage him but nothing worked. (Photo: Getty Images)
Bet's sister Purity Kirui told that he already had kidney problems. His health had deteriorated before his death, after which he was taken to the hospital. Then after treatment, he was given medicine and released, but as soon as he reached home, his condition worsened. When he went to the hospital twice, the doctor realized that his kidneys and liver had stopped functioning. (Photo: Getty Images)
