Former West Indian player Brian Lara said that Yashasvi Jaiswal has the skills to succeed in the five-Test series in Australia. Lara mentioned that the youngster must back his talent and skills in pace friendly conditions.

Jaiswal made his Test debut against the West Indies in 2023 and the southpaw has been impressive in the longest format. He accumulated 1217 runs in 11 Tests, averaging 64.05 with three hundreds.

Jaiswal has stitched a formidable opening partnership with India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma and is expected to score heavily Down Under.

Lara spoke about the young India batter during the launch of the International Masters League in Mumbai on October 8.

“The pitches in Australia are different. But if you are mentally strong, you can perform in any conditions. I expect him to do well against the Aussies. The adjustment is to back your ability in whatever conditions you get. I say this because conditions have changed in India,” he said.

Jaiswal was unstoppable during the home Test series against England. He scored 712 runs in five Tests at an average of 89.

The 55-year-old further said that facing Australia in their backyard is tough.

“The IPL has made things easy for the players. You have international players coming and you are giving your players a different level of competition. I don’t think Jaiswal needs some technical correction. He just have to prepare himself mentally as playing in Australia is always different,” he added.
