Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is backing Team India fast bowlers to perform in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He said that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Akash Deep have the skills to lead the visiting team to a hat-trick of Test series wins in Australia.

The 43-year-old also mentioned that ace spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will not be very successful due to pace-friendly pitches in Australia.

“India’s pace attack will be where they win that Test series. They have the talent to win games for the team, but the team management will have to rotate them to be able to dominate Australia in five Tests,” Watson told the media.

“Although Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are skilled bowlers, but they won’t get enough assistance from the pitches in Australia as the tracks favour pace bowlers. However, they can still trouble the batters and Aussie batters will have to bat carefully against them,” he added.

Notably, India have won two consecutive Test series in Australia.

Shane Watson also highlighted the attacking abilities of the Indian batters. His reaction came after India beat Bangladesh inside five sessions in the second and final Test of the series in Kanpur. Watson hinted about Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, who have a habit of going after bowlers.
