Saud Shakeel along with Naseem Shah who was sent as a night-watchman during the last session of the first day, formed a good 64-run stand before the latter eventually lost his wicket to debutant Brydon Carse on 33. Mohammad Rizwan, who came out to bat next, wasn't able to take advantage of the flat Multan track and was dismissed for a duck by spinner Jack Leach.
