The Gujarat Titans new owner will be “The Torrent Group” (a Pharmaceutical company), which will acquire the team’s major stakes after the ownership period ends in February.
The new ownership entity will hold 64% of the stakes while CVC Capital Partners will hold the remaining 36% shares.
The European Equity CVC Capital Partners who has been the GT’s owner since 2021 will hold minor stakes in the team. CVC Captial Partners bought the Gujarat Titans franchise for INR 5625 crore and the team was officially named Gujarat Titans in February 2022.
During CVC’s ownership, Gujarat Titans made an impressive debut winning the IPL title in the 2022 season under the captaincy of all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
In the 2023 season, Gujarat became the runners of the tournament as they lost the finals against Chennai Super Kings. But the 2024 season saw significant failures as they finished 8th in the point table standings.
With the IPL 2025 season approaching, ownership change and other changes inside the management and team are expected to further shape the team’s future.
On the other side, GT head coach Ashish Nehra, the director of cricket Vikram Solanki, and the other members of the coaching staff will stay in the franchise for the next season.
With reports of them parting ways with the team raised after the below-par performance in the 17th season of the tournament, a report has revealed that Ashish Nehra is Set to Continue as Gujarat Titans’ Head Coach.
“The Titans board of key executives from CVC Capital, including London-based Nick Clarry, Singapore-based Siddharth Patel, and Mumbai-based Amit Soni, recently held a review of the performance of the franchise and decided to continue with Nehra and Solanki,” the report read.
With BCCI having revealed retention rules, Gujarat Titans will be looking to retain some players ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Sai Sudharsan and Rahul Tewatia are the probable players who could be retained by the franchise.
With BCCI yet to reveal the IPL 2025 mega auction dates, the event is likely to happen in the last week of November in Saudi Arabia.
Other reports reveal that the BCCI is planning to hold the mega auction either in Riyadh or Jeddah.
