The International Cricket Council (ICC) has punished Team India fast bowler Arundhati Reddy for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the team’s win over Pakistan in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The incident took place in the final over of the Pakistan innings when Reddy took Nida Dar’s wicket and gave her an aggressive send-off. She breached the Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with language, actions, or gestures which could provoke the batter.

She was also given one demerit point. It was her first offence in a 24-month period. The charges were laid down by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Lauren Agenbag, along with third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Claire Polosak. Reddy accepted her mistake and the sanction by match referee Shandre Fritz.

Meanwhile, Reddy was named the Player of the Match award for taking three wickets and conceding just 19 from her four overs. Pakistan managed just 105 runs and India won the match by six wickets. Reddy dismissed Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, and Aliya Riaz.

The dismissal of Nida Dar proved to be decisive. She scored 28 runs off 34 balls.
