Delhi: Former West Indies veteran opener Chris Gayle has described Mahendra Singh Dhoni as India's most successful captain. He said that Dhoni gave a new direction to Indian cricket and under his captaincy the team achieved great successes.

Let us tell you that Dhoni captained India in 200 ODI matches, out of which he won 110. Under his leadership, Team India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Mahi captained a total of 332 international matches across all formats, out of which the Indian team won 178.

Gayle said, “Dhoni has been India's most successful captain and he set a new trend. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also performed their responsibilities well.” Under the captaincy of Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings has also won five IPL titles.

'Universe Boss' is more difficult than him – Gayle

When the great West Indies player was asked about the toughest bowler in his career, he said, “Whether the toughest bowler has been born or not, I don't know. Every bowler is difficult because they all want to take wickets. However, 'Universe Boss' (Gayle) is even more difficult than him.”

Gayle is currently playing for Gujarat Giants in Legends League Cricket (LSG). He described sharing the dressing room with Shikhar Dhawan as a special experience. Besides, he also expressed his excitement about visiting Kashmir as this is his first visit.

Gayle also expressed his desire to become a mentor or coach of the franchise in the IPL, as he has a lot of experience to impart to the players.
