The governing council also brought back the uncapped player rule among many regulations formed for the next season. According to the uncapped player rule, any Indian cricketer who hasn’t played an international match for more than five years and has no central contract with BCCI will be termed an uncapped player. This rule will allow Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to retain former captain MS Dhoni for INR 4 Crore which is the price of an uncapped player. “A capped Indian player will become uncapped if the player has in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant Season is held, not played in the starting XI in International Cricket (Test match, ODI, Twenty20 International) or does not have a Central Contract with BCCI.
