Former India batter Aakash Chopra has made his prediction for retained players of Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Ahead of the mega auction later this year, the teams have been instructed to release their retained players' list before October 31. The teams can keep a maximum of five players, which will cost them Rs 75 crore, out of a total purse of Rs 120 crore. BCCI has also kept a Rs 4 crore retaining sum for any uncapped player. Aakash Chopra, who is known for his expert comments on social media, took to his X profile and predicted the players the franchise may look forward to retaining ahead of the auction. Although teams may have opportunities to retain up to five players, Aakash Chopra believes RCB can keep four players in their team, which will cost them 47 crore. Virat Kohli is going to be the first name for RCB as per Chopra, and the India veteran will be getting Rs 18 crore as the first pick. Along with Kohli, Cameron Green can be the second player for retention, whereas he thinks Rajat Patidar is the final retention as per Chopra's choice. The former India player also thinks the franchise can pick someone like Yash Dayal as an uncapped player. In the auction, the former player thinks RCB can get up to two players by using their Right to Match (RTM) card. India's premium pacer Mohammed Siraj has been a phenomenon for RCB over the years and he can be bought back in the auction. RCB can also exercise their RTM card to acquire back Will Jacks, who showcased his immense class in the limited opportunities last season. RCB have never won the IPL title in the 17 years of their existence in the competition. Although hopes will be high again for the team to build a strong squad, the team management will have to strategize with purpose in the auction.
