IND vs BAN T20: India are taking on Bangladesh in the 1st T20I of the three-match series in a brand new cricket venue in Gwalior. While the city is not new to international cricket, cricket is returning to the city after 14 years and at a new venue.
While the earlier matches used to be played at the Captain Roop Singh Cricket Stadium, this fixture is being scheduled at the Scindia International Cricket Stadium. But what happened when India last played an international match in Gwalior? It was no ordinary match as a world record was breached for the first time in that fixture. Yet that very Roop Singh Cricket Stadium is now nothing more than a forgotten relic.  First-Ever Double Century In ODIs India last played an international match in Gwalior on February 2010. This was an ODI against South Africa. The then captain of the Indian team was MS Dhoni who won the toss and elected to bat first. What followed was a sheer batting masterclass led by Sachin Tendulkar. Having previously neared that mark but it was on this day that he came the first man in the world to get to a double hundred. He remained unbeaten on 200 off 147 balls with the help of 25 fours and 3 sixes. Dinesh Karthik scored 79 off 85 before the Master Finisher Dhoni scored a blistering 68 off 35, an innings which would have otherwise been more talked about had it not come in Tendulkar's 200 game.   It was Dhoni who was at the other end when Tendulkar got to the milestone. India ended up posting a mammoth 401/3 in their 50 overs. In response, South Africa were all out for 248. S Sreesanth scalped 3 wickets for India while Ravindra Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan, Ashish Nehra shared two wickets apiece. Praveen Kumar had a wicket as India won the match by 153 runs.
