Team India has had a very bad start in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Last Friday (October 4), India faced New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium where the Kiwi team won by 58 runs. Meanwhile, Team India was seen struggling in all three departments – batting, bowling and fielding. The situation was such that wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh took a very easy catch, the video of which is now going viral on social media.
This incident happened in the sixth over of New Zealand's innings. Arundhati Reddy was bowling for Team India. He trapped Suzie Bates on the fourth ball. The Kiwi batsman had misjudged the ball after which it went into the air from the edge of the bat. Here wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh had a chance to take a very easy catch.
Team India could have got the first success of the match, but Richa made a big mistake. She could not judge properly where the ball would fall. She did not reach under the ball. This was the reason why an easy catch became very difficult even for the wicketkeeper. She was not in position, so in the end the ball hit Richa's hands and then bounced and fell down. During this, Richa also fell on the ground with a thud and the catch was dropped. This is why the video of this incident is becoming quite viral and fans are scolding Richa.
If we talk about this match at the Dubai International Stadium, New Zealand's captain Sophie Devine had won the toss and decided to bat first against India, after which she played the captaincy innings and scored unbeaten 57 runs on 36 balls. Apart from Devine, Sozie Bates (27) and Georgia Plimmer (34) also played good innings, due to which the team's score reached 160 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.
In response to this, no player could score even 20 runs for Team India. This is the reason why he was all out after scoring 102 runs in just 19 overs. This is the reason why Team India lost this match by 58 runs.
