Pakistan will host England in a three-match Test series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle with two venues set to stage the matches.
The series kicks off from Monday (October 7) with the first Test at the Multan Cricket Ground in Multan, which also hosts the second Test, starting on October 15 before action shifts to Rawalpindi on October 24 for the third and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan has announced their squad only for the first Test. Shan Masood will lead the squad that also includes the addition of spinner Noman Ali. All-rounder Aamir Jamal, who missed the home series against Bangladesh, also returns to the side as Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali miss out. England, on the other hand, will see the return of their red ball skipper Ben Stokes, who missed the series against Sri Lanka last month, having injured himself during The Hundred tournament. Ollie Pope led the side in Stokes' absence. The visitors, who stand an outside chance of qualifying for the World Test Championship final, also welcomed back fit-again opener Zak Crawley in the squad that also sees the return of spinners Jack Leach and Rehan Ahmed, who will join Shoaib Bashir as three specialist spinners in the squad. Pakistan (19.05 PCT) are placed eighth in the WTC Standings, while England (42.19 PCT) are in fourth. England come into the series on the back of a 2-1 home series win against Sri Lanka. Pakistan are fresh from a stunning 0-2 whitewash by Bangladesh at home. England is set for their second visit to Pakistan in the space of two years for a Test series.
