India's rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of the finest talents in cricket, continues his exceptional run in international arena.
He delivered solid performances in recently-concluded Ind vs Ban Test series, which India won 2-0. Jaiswal scored brilliant half-centuries in both innings of Kanpur Test, maintaining a strike rate of over 100.
The star opener now has the chance to target a long-standing record held by 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar; a record which has remained unbroken for 14 years.
Sachin Tendulkar's record for most Test runs by an Indian in a calendar year stands at 1,562 runs, achieved in 14 Test matches back in 2010. Despite numerous attempts, no Indian batter so far has been able to surpass this milestone.
However, with his current form and several test matches ahead, Yashasvi has a strong chance to break this long-standing record, etch his name in Indian cricket history.
Yashasvi Jaiswal have 7 Test matches more in 2024 to aim for breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record
Jaiswal has scored 929 runs in 9 Test matches during 2024, placing him just 634 runs away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record. Although he is currently over 500 runs behind, he has plenty of time to achieve this feat.
Team India is scheduled to play a three-match Test series against New Zealand, and while the squad for this series has not yet been announced, Yashasvi's current form suggests he will likely be included.
After Test series against New Zealand, India will embark on a tour of Australia later this year, featuring a five-match series, with four matches taking place this year.
At just 22 years old, Jaiswal made his debut in July 2023 and has yet to play in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
