Virat Kohli surprised Mehidy Hasan Miraz by speaking a fluent sentence in Bengali after being presented with a bat by the Bangladesh all-rounder.
The video of Kohli speaking in Bengali has gone viral on social media platforms. The Bangladesh star, who dismissed Kohli in the second innings of the first Test match in Chennai, presented the former India captain with a bat of his own company - MKS. On request from Miraz to speak something about the quality of the bat, a smiling Kohli said, "MKS bat, Khoob bhalo achi (it's very good)." He further praised the quality of the bat, and wished the 26-year-old good luck for his venture. "Very good bat, keep doing the good work. You make very good-quality bats. Continue this work and provide cricketers with quality bats," Kohli said while endorsing the bat.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz also gifted the bat to India captain Rohit Sharma whom he dismissed in the first innings of the second Test in Kanpur. Rohit praised Mehidy and wished his bat company to become market leaders. "I've known Mehidy for a long time. He is a very good cricketer, and I am proud of him for starting his own bat company with few of friends. I wish him all the best. May God give him all the success. I hope this company rises above everyone one day," Rohit Sharma said. Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked nine wickets and scored 64 runs in the recently concluded two-Test series against India. The visitors lost both the Test matches against India as Rohit Sharma's men consolidated their position at the top of WTC standings. Miraz will now be seen playing in the three-match T20I series against India starting October 6 in Gwalior. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the format after T20 World Cup 2024, and will now return to action with the three-match Test series against New Zealand from mid-October.
