Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan's ODI and T20 team. But, after his resignation, PCB i.e. Pakistan Cricket Board is in trouble. The question is, who should he make the captain? As an answer to this question, PCB currently has the names of 3 players. The PCB is eyeing the names of those 3 players because they have experience of captaining at some level or the other. He has also taken the reins of the team in international cricket. The three players we are talking about who are contenders for becoming captain in place of Babar Azam include the names of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan.

Who is the next captain of Pakistan's white ball cricket?

So will PCB appoint any one of these three as captain in place of Babar Azam? Can't say with certainty but it can definitely be expected. Pakistan has to face teams like Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe in the coming time in white ball cricket. It also has to host the Champions Trophy. In such a situation, it is necessary to select a new captain before that. Let us find out one by one why Shaheen, Shadab and Rizwan can become contenders for Babar Azam?

Shaheen Shah Afridi

Shaheen Shah Afridi has the experience of captaining Pakistan. He captained Pakistan in 5 T20I matches, out of which he faced defeat in 4. They have won only 1 match. It is clear that this captaincy figure is not the best but it is also true that Shaheen did not get many opportunities for captaincy and making the team. Because, he is also the captain who has won not one but 2 PSL titles. Shaheen was suddenly removed from the T20 captaincy of Pakistan, after which there was an uproar. Now that Babar has resigned himself, PCB can give a second chance to Shaheen, whose name has also been approved by many veterans.

Shadab Khan

Like Shaheen, Shadab also has experience of captaining Pakistan. At the age of 22 years and 75 days, he took over the reins of Pakistan for the first time and achieved the title of being the youngest captain of the country. Shadab Khan's resume as a contender for Babar Azam is strong because his recent form as captain has been tremendous. He is the current champion of PSL. It was under his captaincy that Islamabad United won the title this year. And, he has also led his team to the title victory in the recently concluded domestic ODI tournament Champions ODI Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan also has captaincy experience in PSL. His hands are definitely tight in this matter on the international pitch of white ball cricket, but a big reason for this is that he has not got that many opportunities. It will be interesting to see whether PCB can consider Rizwan's name to replace Babar Azam.
