Babar Azam will no longer be the captain of Pakistan in ODI and T20I. He has announced to leave the captaincy. This is the second time that Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan. Babar Azam shared the information about leaving the captaincy of Pakistan through social media at midnight. Babar has decided to leave the captaincy so that he can focus on his batting and playing. He said that as a player he will continue to contribute to the team.
However, Babar Azam had left the captaincy of Pakistan only after the ODI World Cup last year. But, then in April this year the PCB had decided to keep him as the captain in white ball cricket. Pakistan also played this year's T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Babar. Now Babar Azam has completely resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan.
Babar Azam announced his decision to step down from captaincy on social media, in which he also explained why he was taking this decision. Babar Azam wrote in his message to the fans that I have decided to step down from the captaincy with immediate effect. It has been an honor for me to lead the Pakistan cricket team. I got to learn a lot from captaincy. But, now I feel that the time is right for me to leave the captaincy.

Babar Azam further told about the reasons for leaving the captaincy. He wrote that he now wants to focus on his batting and playing. And, for this he has decided to step down from the captaincy. He told the fans that now he wants to contribute to the team not as a captain but as a player.
