Rohit Sharma was left startled when a pitch invader approached him during the ongoing match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday (April 1). The incident occurred while the Royals were batting. Rohit Sharma, positioned at first slip and seemingly focusing on field placements, was taken by surprise as a fan approached him. Initially startled, Rohit stepped back momentarily as the fan came closer.

This marks the second instance this season of a fan breaching security measures and entering the field. A similar occurrence happened in Bengaluru last week during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. On that occasion, a fan made it onto the field to embrace Virat Kohli before being escorted away by security personnel. These incidents of pitch invasion are becoming increasingly frequent in India, raising safety concerns. Authorities must take decisive action to prevent such occurrences and ensure the safety of players and spectators alike.
