Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has attacked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for failing to unearth talented players from the Champions One-Day Cup 2024. The 50-over tournament was started to provide better players to the national team.

The tournament saw some excellent bowling and batting, but most of the performers were renowned Pakistan players.

“We didn’t find any talent and there was no young cricketer who was unstoppable. It was the same old guys who ruled the performance charts. If Pakistan were able to find Don Bradman and we missed it, please let us know. It is the same players who have been giving performances and there was nothing new,” he said.

“The hosting of the Champions One-Day Cup was a mistake and wastage of money but no one is going to admit it. The people who were hired will not say anything. Everyone will pass the blame onto someone else. This is where our cricket stands and this how it is run in Pakistan,” he added.

Usman Khan and Kamran Ghulam led the batting charts, while pacer Mohammad Hasnain was the standout bowler.

Ahmed Shehzad also blasted Mohammad Yousuf, who recently resigned from the selector post.

“No one knows why he resigned. But this man selected a team that lost against Bangladesh and he once again picked the same player for the next series. He then decided to leave. He talked about the growth of Pakistan cricket in his departing messgage. Where is that growth? Pakistan have lost to the USA and other weaker teams.”

Pakistan will take on England in the three-Test series from October 7.
