After not being selected in the Test series and T20 series against Bangladesh, now there are reports that Rituraj Gaikwad may get a chance in Team India. The big news is that this player can be selected in the team for the Australia tour. According to media reports, Gaikwad will go to Australia as the third opener. Gaikwad is currently playing Irani Trophy. He is the captain of Rest of India.
According to the report published in Times of India, Gaikwad may be given the role of opening in Australia. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma will be the regular openers of the playing eleven but if needed, Gaikwad can also get this responsibility. If any player gets injured or his form deteriorates then Gaikwad may get a chance. Team India has to go on Australia tour in December where a five-match Test series will be played.
If the news of Ruturaj Gaikwad being selected for Australia tour is coming out, then obviously head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma will be the brain behind it. Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir know that in Australia you need a technically solid batsman and Gaikwad is the best in that. He also plays well against the short ball. Not only this, his recent form is also good.

The question is that before the Test series against Australia, Team India also has to play a three-match Test series against New Zealand. Will Ruturaj Gaikwad be given a chance in this? However, it is also possible that Gaikwad may be sent on Australia tour with India-A. India A team will go to Australia this month. An unofficial test will be played between India A and Australia on 31 October. The second unofficial test match will be played on 7th November. It is possible that Rituraj Gaikwad may be given the captaincy of India A.
