The Indian cricket team has created hopes and possibilities of victory in the Kanpur Test, which seemed to be heading towards a draw after batting only 35 overs. In this second match of the Test series against Bangladesh, about 8 sessions i.e. two and a half days of play was completely ruined due to rain and wet field. After only 35 overs on the first day, the full game was finally completed on the fourth day and Team India made the match interesting by wrapping up Bangladesh's innings quickly with its excellent bowling and then batting aggressively. Team India now has a chance to win but the problem is that Tuesday is the last day of the match. So, is there enough time to achieve victory? How can victory be achieved in just one day? This is possible but for this Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will have to complete the work left incomplete 3 years ago.

Just one way to win in Kanpur

Cricket action returned on the fourth day of the match on Monday i.e. 30th September at Green Park Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Siraj together did not allow the Bangladeshi team to reach a big score. Former captain Mominul Haq scored an excellent century and remained unbeaten on 107 runs but the rest of the batsmen could not support him. Bangladesh's first innings was reduced to 233 runs. After this, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a great start and took Team India beyond 50 runs in just 3 overs and from here the explosive batting continued till the 35th over, where India declared the innings at 285 runs.

After gaining a lead of 52 runs, Team India also took 2 wickets of Bangladesh till stumps. On the fifth day, Bangladesh team will start playing with the score of 26 runs and the game is expected to be around 98 overs. That means Team India has a chance to win. But will it be that easy? It is clear that there is only one way to do this - Bangladesh should be dismissed as soon as possible in the second innings and then whatever target is achieved, it should be achieved. This means only one thing - Team India's bowlers will have to show their strength and the maximum focus will be on Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin, who have proved important in this series.

Ashwin-Jadeja had missed 3 years ago

Obviously, Bumrah's spell with the ball still looking new will be important in the morning session but in true sense, this is an important opportunity for Ashwin and Jadeja. Even though the pitch is not as broken as it was on the fifth day, there was a lot of turn in it on Monday. In such a situation, the role of both the spinners becomes important. Anyway, this is a good opportunity for Ashwin and Jadeja to complete an incomplete task. Three years ago, both the stalwarts were unable to complete a task and victory slipped away from Team India's hands.

In November 2021 also, a test match was played in Kanpur which lasted for 5 days. Team India was very close to winning that match but New Zealand put the last wicket on the crease and faced 52 consecutive balls and did not lose the wicket. Ashwin and Jadeja bowled several overs continuously but even these two giants could not dismiss Ajaz Patel and Rachin Ravindra. Ultimately the win slipped from Team India's hands and was forced to settle for a draw. The fans are not only worried about this but these two greats will also be worried about this and they would not want it to be repeated against Bangladesh.
