Rahul Dravid's son Samit has been selected to compete against Australia Under 19. Samit Dravid was kept out of the ODI series between the Under-19 teams of India and Australia. And, now it seems that he will not be able to play even the 4-day match played with red ball in Chennai. Indian Under-19 team coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar has also expressed his apprehension about this. According to Kanitkar, Samit Dravid's recovery is difficult till then.
Samit Dravid has a knee injury. Hrishikesh Kanitkar said that currently Samit is in NCA and is recovering from his knee injury. So, I don't know what the status is right now. It is certain that it is difficult for them to play a 4-day match against Australia A.
Samit Dravid, son of former cricketer and head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, was selected in the India A team for the first time. This opportunity was given to him considering his performance for Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja T20 and Cooch Behar Trophy.
The first 4-day match between India and Australia Under-19 team is starting from 30th September at Chepauk. Kanitkar gave an update on Samit Dravid on the eve of this match. However, he did not tell when Samit Dravid suffered knee injury and how serious it was. He just shared the information about the treatment going on in NCA.
Indian Under-19 team coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar also talked about other aspects apart from Samit Dravid. He told that the idea of playing such 4-day matches at Under 19 level is a good start. This will be an ideal challenge not only for the batsman and bowler but also for the fielder. I think it is a good thing to play such matches against foreign teams. I had also played such matches with foreign teams. There is a lot of benefit from such matches. This will be a great series for the players.
