CSK Released And Retained Players 2025: Chennai Super Kings is one of the eight teams to make their debut in the inaugural edition of the cash-rich league. The Chennai-based team have won a total of five IPL titles and has become the joint most successful team of the IPL tournament.

CSK have won the IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023 seasons. Despite winning five IPL titles, CSK also won the Champions League Twenty20 a couple of times in 2010 and 2014.

CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs last season as they managed to win only seven games out of the 14 league matches. Though RCB and CSK shared the same match wins, the NRR gave a boost to CSK’s rival team an edge and pushed them into the playoffs.

With the mega auction planned for next year, CSK will be keen to rebuild their squad with much caution to form a formidable squad for the next season.

Though the exact date for the IPL 2025 mega auction has not yet been revealed, the event is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London.

According to the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI, each team can retain six players from their existing squad, either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option. As per the report, the teams must announce their final retention list by 5 PM IST on October 31.

As everyone knows, Chennai Super Kings will not release their key players ahead of the mega auction. One major question which still left unanswered is ‘Will MS Dhoni play in IPL 2025’.

If CSK decides to retain MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper will receive a salary of only INR 4 crore as he will considered as the uncapped Indian player as per the new rules.

CSK will also miss the service of Dwayne Bravo as the bowling coach for the next season. Ahead of the 2025 IPL, KKR roped in Dwayne Bravo as their mentor replacing Gautam Gambhir.

According to the IPL committee rules, each franchise can have 25 players in their squad, out of which a maximum of 8 can be foreign players. In Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in the mix.

The 2025 mega auction is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London. The 2025 mega auction will be a more than-a-day event, unlike the mini auctions which will be hosted in a day.
