PBKS Released And Retained Players 2025: Punjab Kings is one of the few teams who still wait to lift their maiden IPL title in the Indian Premier League. The Punjab-based franchise is one of the eight teams to make their IPL debut in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008.
With just five wins in the league stage, Punjab Kings finished in the ninth spot in last year’s points table. Notably, Punjab Kings have not qualified for the playoff since 2014, when they finished runners-up.
After finishing in the ninth spot in last year’s IPL tournament, Punjab Kings appointed legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting as their new head coach for the IPL 2025 season.
PBKS will completely revamp their squad for the IPL 2025 season to execute a better performance under Ricky Ponting’s guidance.
Though the exact date for the IPL 2025 mega auction has not yet been revealed, the event is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London.
As per the report, the teams must announce their final retention list by 5 PM IST on October 31.
According to the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI, each team can retain six players from their existing squad, either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option.
Right after the arrival of Ricky Ponting, Punjab Kings sacked Trevor Bayliss and Sanjay Bangar, their head coach and head of cricket development, respectively, in IPL 2024.
As per a report, Ponting has signed a multi-year contract with the Kings after he and Delhi Capitals parted ways ending his seven-year tenure.

Punjab Kings is jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul. Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur which has a capacity of 33,000 will be the primary home venue for PBKS.

The 2025 mega auction is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London. The 2025 mega auction will be a more than-a-day event, unlike the mini auctions which will be hosted in a day.
The Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction will be hosted in UAE or London.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, BCCI increases the purse value of each team by INR 20 crores over the existing purse value of about INR 100 crores.
The final purse value of the team will be decided right after they submit the retained and released players list for the event. Punjab Kings Purse Value Before Auction will be 120 Crore without announcing retention and releasing players list.
