KKR Released And Retained Players 2025: Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will not dare to shake their core players’ combination after a successful campaign last year.

Though the Kolkata-based franchise will be tempted by the mega auction, the three-time title winners will retain the majority of their match winners ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

KKR have won the IPL title a total of three times in the cash-rich league tournament’s history – 2012, 2014 and 2024.

Though the exact date for the IPL 2025 mega auction has not yet been revealed, the event is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London.

As per the report, the teams must announce their final retention list by 5 PM IST on October 31.

According to the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI, each team can retain six players from their existing squad, either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option.

Kolkata Knight Riders will miss the key person behind their success in the last season. As Gautam Gambhir was named as the head coach of the Indian Men’s cricket team, KKR will miss the service of their former skipper for the IPL 2025 season.

Along with Gambhir, KKR will also miss Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate who were also the members of KKR support staff unit last year.

KKR roped former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo to fill the vacant mentor post for the IPL 2025 season.

According to the IPL committee rules, each franchise can have 25 players in their squad, out of which a maximum of 8 can be foreign players. In Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in the mix.

The 2025 mega auction is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London. The 2025 mega auction will be a more than-a-day event, unlike the mini auctions which will be hosted in a day.
