The IPL Governing Council has agreed to allow franchises to retain five players each, according to sources. If teams decide to use all the five retentions, they will have to shell out INR 75 crore from their total purse for the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025.

The Right To Match (RTM) card will be reintroduced but the exact number hasn’t been disclosed.

The other important decision made in the meeting was the introduction of match fees for players. All the franchises will pay INR 7.5 lakh match fee to the players.

“A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount,” Jay Shah wrote on X.

The IPL GC met in Bengaluru on Saturday, September 28.
