IPL 2025 Rules: BCCI tightened its grip on foreign players, if they do this in IPL, they will be banned for 2 years

The owners of IPL teams were very upset with the actions of the players for the last few years. For this he had also complained to the IPL Governing Council. In fact, many players were sold in the auction and took their rights back after being selected in the tournament. Some players used to withdraw their names midway through the tournament. Such cases were mostly seen with foreign players. The highest number of cases were seen in IPL 2024, when many players returned to their country due to the T20 World Cup. Now BCCI has heard this problem. The board has tried to prevent such cases and tighten the noose by bringing some strict rules before IPL 2025.

Will tighten the noose on players

All the fans including the franchises were eagerly waiting for the rules of IPL 2025. The Governing Council of IPL met in Bengaluru on Saturday 28 September and approved the new rules. The Governing Council has issued many rules for the mega auction including players retention, auction purse. During this time a strict decision has also been taken.

According to the new rule, if a player registers in the player auction and after being selected, withdraws his name before the start of the season, he will be banned for 2 years. He will not be able to participate in the tournament for 2 years, and will also not be able to register for the player auction.

Special rule came for foreign players

The Governing Council of IPL has brought another special rule for foreign players. The council said that from now on it will be mandatory for foreign players to register in the mega auction to enter the player auction. If this is not done then the player will not be eligible for the auction in the coming season.

Big rules of IPL 2025

Everyone was eyeing the retention policy for IPL 2025, which has now been revealed. Before the mega auction, all the franchises have been allowed to retain a total of 6 players from their existing squad. For this, they have been given many options like right to match, capped player category, uncapped player category along with Indian and foreign players. It will depend on the franchise how it wants to retain 6 players. Apart from this, there was a lot of controversy regarding the impact player rule. But it has been retained till 2027.

The uncapped player rule has returned again in IPL 2025, under which Chennai Super Kings wanted to retain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It was abolished in 2021. On the other hand, the auction purse has been increased from Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. The total salary cap has now increased from Rs 110 crore to Rs 146 crore. Apart from this, match fee has been introduced for the first time, under which every player of the playing eleven (as well as the impact player) will get Rs 7.5 lakh for playing a match.
