Mayank Yadav bowling in full tilt at NCA, might get picked for Bangladesh T20Is

New Delhi: Young pace sensation Mayank Yadav looks set for his maiden call-up for the Indian team after attaining a full recovery from his injury.
The fast bowler, who turned heads with his raw pace and exceptional accuracy for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been dubbed by many as one of the future stars of Indian cricket. Mayank can consistently clock 150kph and is the fastest bowler in the country at present. He had a magnificent start to his debut IPL campaign for LSG with 7 wickets from his first four matches before getting ruled out due to an injury. Mayank suffered from a recurring abdominal strain and was sidelined from the remainder of the IPL 2024 season. As per a report in the Times of India, Mayank has been bowling in full tilt at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has not complained of any pain in the last 30 days. The selectors are reportedly considering Mayank as one of the contenders for the upcoming T20I series between India and Bangladesh if he receives the green signal from the NCA medical staff. “Mayank hasn’t complained of any pain for the last month or so. He is bowling full tilt at the NCA. “Mayank is bowling close to 20 overs with the white ball in three separate spells in a day. There is a strong chance of selectors picking him for the Bangladesh series after seeing him in the NCA,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by the Times of India. Camp for young players ahead of Bangladesh T20Is As per the report, Mayank has been included in a special camp which will involve several young players ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh. The likes of Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma are expected to be part of the camp alongside Mayank. While Mayank is rated highly by the Indian team management, the selectors are wary of rushing him into action. The 22-year-old pacer from Delhi, who was named in Delhi’s list of probable for the Ranji Trophy, is also in the reckoning to make get his maiden Test call-up for India’s three-match Test series against New Zealand next month. “Mayank is bowling close to 20 overs with the white ball in three separate spells in a day. Agarkar is slated to travel to Bengaluru to attend the inauguration of the new NCA,” added the source. Mayank has already worked with India head coach Gautam Gambhir and current India bowling coach Morne Morkel during the duo’s time at the Lucknow Super Giants. It remains to be seen if the youngster is given a taste of international cricket in the T20I series against Bangladesh which gets underway on October 06.
