Australia could have a huge injury scare in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India after Cameron Green was ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against England.
According to a statement released by Cricket Australia on Friday (Sep 27), Green has suffered from a back injury which could see him miss the start of the five-match Test series against India starting in Perth on November 22. Green suffered an injury in the third ODI in Durham, where he bowled a spell of sustained short balls, and will undergo further assessment on returning home to understand the full extent of the injury. Green likely to miss start of BGT "Cameron Green has sustained a back injury and will play no further part in the ODI tour of England," a Cricket Australia statement said. "Scans in London overnight revealed the injury after Green reported soreness following the third ODI against England in Durham. He will return home for further assessment where his return to play management plan will be determined." Green is one of the most important members of the Australia squad and has played a key role in the side's dominance in both red-ball and white-ball format. Green comes as a utility option in the side who can both bat and bowl. In his 28 Test matches for the side, he scored 1377 runs and scalped 35 wickets. During that period he has also scored two hundreds and one five-for which proves his worth to the side.  The Indian team has been victorious in the last two visits to Australia and also won the Boxing Day Test in 2020. Rohit Sharma's men will look to repeat the heroics as they look to take a giant step towards the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord's.
