India's star wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, has taken to social media to deny rumors linking him with a move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) captain lashed out at a fan on X (formerly Twitter) who claimed that Pant had approached RCB in hopes of securing a leadership role in the franchise. The rumors originated from a post by an X user, who alleged that Pant had sought a leadership opportunity with RCB, but his request was reportedly turned down by the team management. According to the user, Virat Kohli, the former RCB skipper and a dominant figure in the franchise, was not in favor of Pant joining the team. Pant was quick to shut down these claims. In a strongly-worded post, the cricketer expressed his frustration at the constant spread of misinformation on social media, urging fans to be more responsible before sharing baseless rumors. Taking to his X account, Pant directly addressed the situation. "Fake news . Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad . Don't create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It's not the first time and won't be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it's becoming worst . Rest it's upto you guys . It's wasn't just for you it's for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc," the tweet read.
Pant's response highlights his frustration with the growing trend of fake news in the digital age, calling for more accountability in how information is shared online. His candid remarks also resonate with fans who have seen similar baseless rumors circulating in the past. Pant's IPL 2024 Comeback: A Successful Return to Form Pant made a triumphant return to the IPL in 2024 after recovering from a serious car accident in December 2022, which had threatened his career. Despite his near-fatal crash, Pant returned to cricket in fine form. He scored an impressive 446 runs from 13 matches, boasting an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40. However, under his captaincy, Delhi Capitals narrowly missed the playoffs, finishing sixth with seven wins and 14 points from 14 matches.
